VU041

Mosquito Kir1 Channels Inhibitor

VU041 is a potent inhibitor of the inward rectifier potassium 1 (Kir1) channels in Anopheles gambiae and Aedes aegypti, exhibiting submicromolar affinity with IC50 values of 2.5 μM and 1.7 μM, respectively. This compound also demonstrates moderate inhibition of mammalian Kir2.1 (IC50 of 12.7 μM) while showing minimal effects on other mammalian Kir channels. VU041 has been shown to disrupt Malpighian tubule function, making it a valuable tool for research into mosquito physiology and potential pest control strategies.
