ZnAF-2 is a high-affinity fluorescence probe specifically designed for Zn2+ detection, featuring a dissociation constant (Kd) of 2.7 nM. This cell-impermeable compound displays minimal baseline fluorescence, with a notable 51-fold enhancement in fluorescence intensity upon stoichiometric binding to Zn2+. ZnAF-2 demonstrates negligible affinity for other metal ions such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, or K+, making it ideal for investigating zinc-related biological processes and biochemical assays.
