1,2-Didocosahexaenoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine

Phospholipid

1,2-Didocosahexaenoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a polyunsaturated phospholipid that incorporates into lipid monolayers and small unilamellar vesicles. This compound is utilized in the formulation of endoplasmic reticulum-targeted liposomes (PERLs), when combined in a specific molar ratio with other phospholipids. Research indicates that PERLs can significantly diminish cholesterol levels in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and suppress HIV-1 particle secretion from HIV-1-infected PBMCs, making it valuable for studies in cellular metabolism and viral research.
