3-Deoxy-3-fluoro-D-fructose is a selective probe for the hexose transporter 5 (GLUT5). This compound inhibits the transport of D-fructose labeled with carbon-14, demonstrating IC50 values of 1.16 µM in EMT-6 cells and 2.37 µM in MCF-7 cells. Its unique properties make 3-Deoxy-3-fluoro-D-fructose valuable for applications in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, particularly in studying cancer metabolism and transport mechanisms.
