5,7-Dihydroxytryptamine

Nerve Injury Inducer

5,7-Dihydroxytryptamine (5,7-DHT) is a selective neurotoxin that primarily targets serotonin (5-HT) receptors, acting as a transport substrate for monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) and 5-HT. This compound is effective in inducing damage to both central and peripheral serotonergic neurons, thereby influencing 5-HT-related pathways and neurotransmitter homeostasis. 5,7-DHT is utilized in studies aimed at investigating neural development, neurodegenerative diseases, and the underlying mechanisms associated with platelet function and retinal neuron dynamics.
