6-Bromo-2-naphthol

RTP Probe

6-Bromo-2-naphthol serves as a real-time polymerase chain reaction (RTP) probe, forming a stable complex with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) to enhance nucleic acid detection. This compound enables the real-time monitoring of PCR reactions, allowing for precise quantification of specific nucleic acid sequences. With applications in gene expression analysis, SNP genotyping, and pathogen detection, 6-Bromo-2-naphthol utilizes hydrophobic interactions to inhibit quenching by oxygen, resulting in a phosphorescent signal. Additionally, it can function as an intermediate for the synthesis of antibacterial azo dyes, demonstrating effective antibacterial activity against pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
