8-Deazahomofolic acid
Thymidylate Synthase Inhibitor
8-Deazahomofolic acid is a potent inhibitor of thymidylate synthase (TS) and other folate-related enzymes. This compound exhibits significant inhibitory activity against folate-dependent bacterial strains, including S. faecium and L. casei, as well as strains resistant to methotrexate. Additionally, 8-Deazahomofolic acid demonstrates cytotoxic effects on L1210 leukemia cells, with an IC50 value of 87.5 μM. It is valuable in the study of bacterial infections and cancer research, providing insights into therapeutic strategies targeting folate metabolism.
