Benzoquinoquinoxaline

Heterocyclic Compound

Benzoquinoquinoxaline (BQQ) is a heterocyclic compound known for its ability to preferentially bind to DNA triplex structures. By intercalating between the bases, BQQ stabilizes the triplex conformation, enhancing DNA structural integrity. Additionally, when conjugated with 1,10-phenanthroline, it exhibits the capability to specifically bind and cleave double-strand DNA at the site of triplex formation, making it a valuable tool for studying DNA interactions and structural biology.
