Catharanthine

Ca2+ Channel Inhibitor

Catharanthine, a potent inhibitor of voltage-operated L-type Ca2+ channels (VOCC), demonstrates significant activity in the modulation of calcium ion influx. With IC50 values of 220 μM and 8 μM in cardiomyocytes and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), respectively, it effectively lowers blood pressure and heart rate. Furthermore, Catharanthine exhibits anti-cancer properties, making it valuable for various research applications in cardiovascular and cancer studies.
