Chlorophyll b

Pigment

Chlorophyll b is a tetrapyrrole derivative that functions primarily as a pigment in photosynthetic organisms, including plants and algae. As an effective hydrogen donor, it enhances glutathione levels and exhibits significant antioxidant activity. Chlorophyll b replaces chlorophyll a in photosystem II, facilitating photochemical processes essential for photosynthesis. Additionally, it has been shown to mitigate Cisplatin-induced DNA damage, reduce chromosome instability, and alleviate oxidative stress, making it valuable for research in plant physiology and photosynthesis mechanisms.
