Dichlorobenzamil hydrochloride

Na+/Ca2+ Exchanger Inhibitor

Dichlorobenzamil hydrochloride is a selective inhibitor of the Na+/Ca2+ exchanger, which plays a crucial role in calcium homeostasis and excitability in neuronal cells. This compound effectively diminishes Na+/Ca2+ exchanger-mediated inward currents in response to activation of metabotropic glutamate receptors, particularly in second-order baroreceptor neurons within the rat nucleus tractus solitarius. Its use in research can advance the understanding of calcium signaling pathways and their implications in cardiovascular and neurological functions.
