Epitheaflagallin 3-O-gallate

MMP Inhibitor

Epitheaflagallin 3-O-gallate is a selective matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor. This minor polyphenol, found in black tea, exhibits significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. It effectively inhibits pancreatic lipase and Streptococcus sorbinus glycosyltransferase, while also reducing the activity and synthesis of MMP-1 and MMP-3 in human gingival fibroblasts. These biological activities make it a valuable tool for research in inflammation and tissue remodeling studies.
