Ferrocin A is an iron-chelating lipopeptide that specifically targets the SARS-CoV-2 RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (nsp12). By forming a stable complex with nsp12, Ferrocin A effectively inhibits viral replication. Additionally, its ability to chelate iron reduces the availability of free iron, which can inhibit bacterial growth, making it a valuable compound for research on both COVID-19 and bacterial infections.
