Feruloyl-CoA

Precursor

Feruloyl-CoA is a key coenzyme A ester involved in the biosynthesis of lignin and coumarin in plants. As a substrate for cinnamoyl-CoA reductase 1, it participates in the reduction reaction with NADPH to yield cinnamaldehyde. Additionally, Feruloyl-CoA serves as a precursor for the generation of scopoletin through spontaneous trans/cis isomerization and lactonization of its side chain, making it valuable for research in plant biochemistry and secondary metabolite production.
