Fialuridine

Antiviral Agent

Fialuridine is a nucleoside analog that primarily acts as an antiviral agent targeting HSV-1 and HSV-2, exhibiting inhibition constants (Kis) of 0.14 μM and 0.95 μM, respectively. It also demonstrates significant anti-orthopoxvirus and anti-hepatitis B virus (HBV) activity. Fialuridine effectively inhibits duck HBV DNA replication, with IC50 values of 0.075 μM in human hepatoma cells and 156 μM in chicken liver cells, making it a valuable tool for research into viral replication and potential antiviral therapies.
