FR900098 sodium

Antimalarial Agent

FR900098 sodium is an antimalarial agent that selectively inhibits 1-deoxy-D-xylulose-5-phosphate (DXP) reductoisomerase, an enzyme crucial for isoprenoid biosynthesis in Plasmodium species. This compound demonstrates notable biological activity against malaria parasites while exhibiting no significant acute toxicity or genotoxic effects. Additionally, FR900098 sodium does not induce chromosome breakage or affect bone marrow red blood cells in NMRI mice, making it a valuable tool for malaria research and potential therapeutic applications.
