Hexidium iodide

Luorescent Nucleic Acid Stain

Hexidium iodide is a fluorescent nucleic acid stain that emits at approximately 600 nm when excited at 518 nm. This reagent permeates mammalian cells and selectively labels nearly all gram-positive bacteria. It can effectively bind to bacterial DNA following cell permeabilization with EDTA, making it a valuable tool for microbiological studies and the visualization of bacterial populations.
