Hydroxypyruvic acid phosphate

Phosphatase

Hydroxypyruvic acid phosphate is a vital metabolic intermediate that acts primarily on phosphatase enzymes in the biosynthesis of L-Serine. It is produced through the conversion of 3-phosphoglycerate by 3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase and further acts as a substrate for phosphohydroxypyruvate aminotransferase to form phosphoserine, which is ultimately converted to L-Serine by phosphoserine phosphatase. This metabolic pathway underscores its importance not only in cellular proliferation but also in providing essential one-carbon units necessary for the synthesis of purine nucleotides and deoxythymidine monophosphate, marking its significance in both the central nervous system and various physiological conditions.
