Indole-2-carboxylic acid

Lipid Peroxidation Inhibitor

Indole-2-carboxylic acid is an inhibitor of lipid peroxidation, functioning as a competitive antagonist of the glycine site on the NMDA receptor, with a Ki value of 15 μM. It selectively interrupts the enhancement of NMDA receptor activity by blocking glycine binding, which is crucial in various neurological disorders. Additionally, Indole-2-carboxylic acid inhibits the strand transfer activity of HIV-1 integrase by chelating magnesium ions at the enzyme's active site, allowing for impactful research applications in both neurobiology and virology.
