This compound serves as a potent, orally active inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) with an IC50 value of 872 nM, demonstrating over 115-fold selectivity for butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE). Additionally, Jatrorrhizine inhibits the uptake of serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) through the inhibition of uptake-2 transporters, making it a valuable reagent for neurological and pharmacological research.
