K103

Phosphatase

K103 is a selective inhibitor targeting SHIP1 and SHIP2 phosphatases, demonstrating significant biological activity against various cancer cell lines, particularly breast cancer. This compound achieves its anti-tumor effects through the induction of G2/M cell cycle arrest and the activation of apoptotic pathways, specifically via caspase cascade activation in multiple myeloma cells. Although K103 has been characterized as a small molecule agent, its psychoactive effects in vivo have prompted investigations into its structural modifications to enhance pharmacodynamic properties and reduce adverse side effects, while maintaining pan-SHIP1/2 inhibition. This makes K103 a valuable tool for research in cancer biology and therapeutic development.
