KR-33028

NHE1 Inhibitor

KR-33028 is a selective inhibitor of the sodium/hydrogen exchanger 1 (NHE1). It effectively reduces hypoxia-induced necrosis and apoptosis in H9c2 cardiomyoblasts by inhibiting increases in cytoplasmic and mitochondrial calcium levels and preventing cytochrome c release. Furthermore, KR-33028 enhances cardiac contractility, decreases lactate dehydrogenase release, and boosts tissue levels of ATP, creatine phosphate, and glycogen. This compound is valuable for research into cancers such as cardioblastoma and cardiovascular conditions, including ischemic stroke.
