Lactulose

Synthetic sugar

Lactulose, a synthetic disaccharide comprised of galactose and fructose, primarily acts as an osmotic laxative. It increases the water content in the stool, facilitating bowel movements and alleviating constipation. Additionally, lactulose is utilized in the management of hepatic encephalopathy, as it helps reduce ammonia levels in the blood. This reagent is essential for research investigating gut health, metabolic disorders, and liver function.
