Latanoprost

Prostaglandin Receptor Agonist

Latanoprost is a selective agonist of the prostaglandin F2α (FP) receptor. It is utilized primarily in glaucoma research for its ability to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) by enhancing aqueous humor outflow through the uveal pathway. Latanoprost penetrates the cornea effectively, where it is hydrolyzed by esterases to its active form, latanoprost acid, which mediates the ocular hypotensive effects.
