Lunacalcipol

Vitamin D Receptor Agonist

Lunacalcipol is a vitamin D receptor agonist that acts through the modulation of vitamin D signaling pathways. It demonstrates dual functionality in chronic kidney disease (CKD) by enhancing the activity of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) and inhibiting the cytochrome P450 enzyme 24-hydroxylase. By binding to VDR, Lunacalcipol influences various aspects of its transcriptional activity, including ligand affinity and coactivator recruitment. This compound is particularly relevant for research focused on CKD and secondary hyperparathyroidism (sHPT).
