MEL-A

Glycolipid Biosurfactant

MEL-A is a glycolipid biosurfactant produced from vegetable oils through the action of Pseudozyma yeasts. This compound enhances the low-temperature fluidity of biodiesel and hydrocarbon fuels, making it valuable for improving fuel performance. Additionally, MEL-A comprises a mixture of isoforms with varying fatty acid chain lengths, which significantly boosts gene transfection efficacy via cationic liposomes through membrane fusion. These properties make MEL-A a useful reagent in biotechnological and fuel research applications.
