MiADMSA

MiADMSA (Monoisoamyl meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid) is an oral thiol chelator effective in the removal of heavy metals, notably arsenic and lead, from biological systems. It operates by binding to these metals through its vicinal sulfhydryl groups, resulting in significant reductions in body metal burden and various oxidative stress markers, including reactive oxygen species and antioxidant enzymes. Research applications include the study of urinary bladder carcinogenesis, oxidative stress mitigation, and developmental neurotoxicity induced by heavy metals. MiADMSA demonstrates safety in animal models while providing protective effects against copper-induced histopathology and neurotoxicity.
