NADPH

Reducing Agent

NADPH serves as a critical reducing agent involved in redox reactions, acting primarily as a coenzyme for glutathione reductase (GR), thioredoxin reductase (TrxR), and NADPH oxidase (NOX). This metabolite plays a key role in maintaining cellular redox homeostasis and exhibits antioxidant properties by facilitating the regeneration of glutathione (GSH) and thioredoxin (Trx). Additionally, NADPH is instrumental in generating superoxide anions through NOX, thereby influencing oxidative stress and immune responses. Its applications extend to the study of oxidative stress-related diseases, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disorders, as well as cancer, and it is integral in exploring immune regulatory mechanisms.
