NDM-1 inhibitor-7 is a potent inhibitor of the New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase 1 (NDM-1) enzyme, exhibiting an IC50 of 10.284 μM. This compound enhances the permeability of meropenem (MEM) through the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria, thereby reinstating the antibacterial efficacy of MEM against NDM-1-positive Escherichia coli. NDM-1 inhibitor-7 has demonstrated substantial effectiveness in both the Galleria mellonella infection model and the murine peritonitis infection model, making it valuable for research in antibiotic resistance and therapeutic development.
