Nemazoline hydrochloride

Nasal Decongestant

Nemazoline hydrochloride is a selective α-adrenergic agent that functions primarily as a nasal decongestant. It exerts its biological activity by inducing α1-mediated contraction of capacitance vessels, effectively alleviating nasal congestion without significantly compromising blood flow due to its α2-antagonist properties. Additionally, Nemazoline hydrochloride counteracts endogenous noradrenaline-induced α2 constriction of resistance vessels, making it a valuable tool for research into vascular dynamics and respiratory conditions.
