Nemazoline

Nasal Decongestant

Nemazoline is a selective α-adrenergic agent that functions primarily as an α1-agonist and α2-antagonist, making it an effective nasal decongestant. Its mechanism involves α1-mediated contraction of capacitance vessels, which alleviates congestion while preserving blood flow due to its α2-antagonism. Additionally, Nemazoline inhibits the α2-mediated constriction of resistance vessels induced by endogenous noradrenaline, further enhancing its decongestant properties. It is widely utilized in research related to respiratory health and vascular responses.
