Okadaic acid sodium

PP1/PP2A Inhibitor

Okadaic acid sodium is a potent inhibitor of serine/threonine protein phosphatases, primarily targeting PP2A with an IC50 of 0.1-0.3 nM, and also inhibiting PP1 and PP3 at higher concentrations. This marine toxin promotes the phosphorylation of numerous proteins by blocking phosphatase activity, playing a significant role in cellular signaling pathways. Furthermore, Okadaic acid sodium is implicated in cancer research due to its tumor-promoting properties and its ability to induce tau phosphorylation, making it a valuable reagent for studies on neurodegeneration and cell cycle regulation.
