Oxidopamine hydrochloride

Neurotoxin

Oxidopamine hydrochloride is a neurotoxin that selectively targets and destroys dopaminergic neurons by acting as a dopamine antagonist. This compound induces COX-2 activation, resulting in the synthesis of prostaglandin E2 and the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1β. Oxidopamine hydrochloride is primarily employed in research related to neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and Lesch-Nyhan syndrome.
