Pamaquine

Antimalarial Agent

Pamaquine is an 8-aminoquinoline compound that functions as an antimalarial agent by targeting Plasmodium species responsible for malaria. Research indicates that while effective in combating malaria, Pamaquine is associated with neurotoxicity and potential damage to specific neuro-anatomical structures, resulting in neurological deficits observed in Rhesus monkey models. This compound is valuable for studies investigating the neurotoxic effects of antimalarial treatments and the mechanisms underlying such adverse effects.
