Piericidin A

Mitochondrial Complex I Inhibitor

Piericidin A is a potent inhibitor of mitochondrial Complex I (NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase), effectively disrupting mitochondrial respiration by interfering with the electron transport chain. This compound exhibits neurotoxic properties and has been shown to inhibit quorum sensing, thus reducing the expression of virulence genes in Erwinia carotovora subsp. atroseptica. Additionally, Piericidin A serves as an ADC cytotoxin and presents various biological activities, including antibacterial and anticancer effects, making it valuable for diverse research applications.
