POPSO

Zwitterionic Buffer

POPSO is a zwitterionic buffer that serves to regulate osmolality in biochemical assays. It exhibits significant inhibition of anion uniport, particularly chloride uniport, with an IC50 value of 24 mM. Additionally, POPSO has been shown to enhance copper uptake and toxicity in algal systems while disrupting mitochondrial inner membrane integrity. The optimal working pH range for POPSO sesquisodium salt is 7.2 to 8.5, making it suitable for various research applications involving cellular and biochemical studies.
