Pregnanediol

Progesterone Metabolite

Pregnanediol is a metabolite of progesterone with a specific role in modulating glucuronidation activity associated with the G71R variant of UGT1A1. It has been found to inhibit the glucuronidation process in affected individuals, contributing to breast milk jaundice. This compound is instrumental in studies exploring the biochemical pathways of progesterone metabolism and its implications in neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Pregnanediol serves as a valuable reagent for investigating metabolic variances in human physiology and drug metabolism.
