Prenyl acetate

Insecticide

Prenyl acetate is an insecticide that primarily targets the behavioral responses of red imported fire ants (Solenopsis invicta). At low concentrations, it acts as an attractant, eliciting pronounced antennal electroantennogram (EAG) responses across all castes of the species. Additionally, prenyl acetate exhibits low mammalian toxicity, making it a valuable compound for research focused on pest control strategies involving red imported fire ants.
