Purple-β-D-Gal

Chromogenic Beta-galactosidase Substrate

Purple-β-D-Gal serves as a chromogenic substrate for β-galactosidase, specifically targeting the enzymatic activity of β-galactosidase. Upon hydrolysis within cells, Purple-β-D-Gal releases free indoxyl molecules, which subsequently oxidize and dimerize, resulting in the formation of chromogenic, water-insoluble indigo precipitates. This reagent is ideal for the quantitative detection and analysis of β-galactosidase activity in various biological samples.
