(Rac)-SOPC

Asymmetrical Phospholipid

(Rac)-SOPC, or racemic 2-Oleoyl-1-stearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, acts as an asymmetrical phospholipid. With stearic acid (18:0) at the sn-1 position and oleic acid (18:1) at the sn-2 position, (Rac)-SOPC plays a critical role in stabilizing the outer segment membrane of frog photoreceptor cells. This compound is of particular interest in studies focusing on membrane dynamics and lipid bilayer properties in biological systems.
