MMP-12 Inhibitor
RXP470.1 is a potent and selective inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-12 (MMP-12), exhibiting a Ki of 0.2 nM in human MMP-12 assays. This compound demonstrates significantly lower activity against other MMPs, enhancing its specificity. RXP470.1 has been shown to effectively reduce atherosclerotic plaque cross-sectional area in murine models, resulting in improved plaque complexity characterized by an increased smooth muscle cell to macrophage ratio, decreased macrophage apoptosis, enhanced cap thickness, smaller necrotic cores, and reduced calcification incidence. This makes RXP470.1 a valuable tool for studying cardiovascular diseases and related inflammatory conditions.
