NDM-1 Inhibitor

SA09-Cu is a potent noncompetitive inhibitor of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-1 (NDM-1), with an IC50 value of 9.6 nM. This compound effectively oxidizes the Zn(II)-thiolate site of the enzyme, rendering NDM-1 inactive while remaining resistant to reduction by intracellular thiols in bacteria. SA09-Cu demonstrates strong inhibitory activity against various clinical strains of NDM-1-producing carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), thereby enhancing the efficacy of meropenem and potentially delaying the emergence of carbapenem resistance.
