SAR 97276

Antimalarial Agent

SAR 97276 (Albitiazolium bromide) is an antimalarial agent that targets phospholipid metabolism in malaria parasites, specifically inhibiting the biosynthesis of phosphatidylcholine (PC). This compound is known to enter infected erythrocytes through new permeability pathways (NPP) and is subsequently transported into the parasites via a poly-specific cation carrier. SAR 97276 demonstrates significant potential for research in malaria treatment and therapeutic applications in combating resistant strains.
