Antiviral Agent

SCR005 is a synthetic carbohydrate receptor (SCR) that functions as a broad-spectrum antiviral agent by inhibiting viral entry. It effectively targets a range of enveloped viruses, including members of the Coronaviridae family (SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV), Filoviridae (EBOV, MARV), and Paramyxoviridae (NiV, HeV), as well as glycosylated nonenveloped rotavirus. SCR005 binds to viral envelope N-glycans, obstructing both viral attachment and membrane fusion with host cells. It demonstrates prophylactic efficacy in hACE2 mice infected with SARS-CoV-2, making it a valuable tool for research into the prevention of enveloped virus pandemics.
