Antiviral Agent

SCR007 is a synthetic carbohydrate receptor (SCR) that functions as a broad-spectrum antiviral agent. It effectively inhibits the entry of enveloped viruses from multiple families, including Coronaviridae (e.g., SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV), Filoviridae (e.g., EBOV, MARV), and Paramyxoviridae (e.g., NiV, HeV), as well as glycosylated nonenveloped rotavirus. By binding to viral envelope N-glycans, SCR007 disrupts viral attachment to host cells and hampers subsequent membrane fusion. Additionally, it demonstrates prophylactic effects in hACE2 mice challenged with SARS-CoV-2, making it a valuable tool for studying and preventing pandemics caused by enveloped viruses.
