SPD-502

iGluR

SPD-502 is a selective antagonist of the AMPA receptor, primarily targeting iGluR to inhibit glutamate-mediated excitatory signaling. It demonstrates a high binding affinity (IC50 = 0.043 μM) and effectively antagonizes AMPA-induced responses in rat cortical membranes and cultured mouse cortical neurons. In vivo studies reveal that SPD-502 significantly elevates the seizure threshold in mice and protects hippocampal neurons from ischemic damage in gerbils. These properties make SPD-502 a valuable reagent for exploring neuroprotective strategies in neurodegenerative diseases linked to glutamate excitotoxicity.
