Stibophen

Antiparasitic Agent

Stibophen is a potent antiparasitic agent that targets various filarial infections, including Litomosoides carinii, Dipetalonema witei, and Brugia pahangi. It exerts its biological activity by inhibiting lactate accumulation and phosphofructokinase (PFK) activity in adult filariids, while sparing mammalian liver PFK. Stibophen is invaluable for research focused on schistosomiasis and filariid infections, providing insights into these parasitic diseases and potential therapeutic strategies.
