Surfen dihydrochloride

HS Antagonist

Surfen dihydrochloride is a potent heparan sulfate antagonist that effectively inhibits FGF2 binding and subsequent signal transduction. This compound demonstrates significant biological activity by reducing tau hyperphosphorylation and inhibiting the activity of recombinant uronyl 2-O-sulfotransferase, exhibiting an IC50 of approximately 2 μM. Additionally, Surfen dihydrochloride has been shown to inhibit HSV-1 viral infection and affect neural differentiation, delay remyelination, and alleviate experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), making it a valuable reagent for research in neurobiology and viral pathogenesis.
