Surfen

HS Antagonist

Surfen is a potent heparan sulfate antagonist that inhibits FGF2 binding and its associated signal transduction pathways. By binding to glycosaminoglycans, Surfen effectively reduces tau hyperphosphorylation and inhibits the activity of recombinant uronyl 2-O-sulfotransferase, with an IC50 of approximately 2 μM. Additionally, Surfen demonstrates antiviral activity against HSV-1 infection and impedes neural differentiation while delaying remyelination. This compound is valuable for research applications related to neurodegenerative diseases and viral pathogenesis.
