Tirilazad

Antiviral Agent

Tirilazad is a nonglucocorticoid 21-aminosteroid that functions primarily as an antiviral agent by inhibiting lipid peroxidation. It demonstrates neuroprotective effects, particularly in models of ischemic stroke, and is effective in attenuating injuries associated with trauma, stroke, and ischemia/reperfusion events. Additionally, Tirilazad has shown antiviral activity against novel coronaviruses, making it a valuable reagent for research in subarachnoid hemorrhage and related neurological conditions.
